Won't pay $5-10k for Kois course that isn't hands on
Yes. I'm not paying $5-$10k+ for a course that is not hands on/live patient, like Koi$. I have spent more than 5k for a CE class, and it was worth it. Not against spending money. I'm against overpaying.
Kois suggestion to new grad called foolish, poor ROI
The KOIS suggestion to a new grad shows how foolish/out of touch the dentist is, like so many dentists out there (and also on DT). RIPE Global at less than 1k per year has great courses, DT has good online courses, there are good exo courses, good endo courses, and denture courses that would make a much better ROI for a younger dentist.
Kois courses called nonsense, never taking them
Still no airway grift, nor kois/strupp brumm nonsense, as that is totally not necessary to make money and do a good job. I know for sure I will never take such 'courses'.
Kois deprogrammer not therapeutically efficient, leads to misdiagnosis
The Kois deprogrammer is NOT designed to be efficient therapeutically. Mainly, it does not provide posterior disclusion with incisal contact in *protrusive*. Once a device is provided that allows for unemcumbered protrusive movement, protrusive movement will happen. So when the patient DOES protrude and clench with posterior contacts (without the practitioner's knowledge or understanding), the practitioner makes a mis-diagnosis of "constricted envelope of function", which is complete non-sense, as purposeful mastication has nothing to do with nocturnal parafunction.
Kois course foolish for new grads, only worth it later
Yea I think that's foolish for anyone at an early point in their career. If I were a new grad I would learn how to get out teeth extremely fast and efficient, socket graft, and do removable very well. If you have the market and desire for it, then take Kois or whatever advanced courses, by then your surgical skills alone should pay for that class.
Kois CE called big fluff with no ROI
Don't spend $$$ on fancy dental gadgets/supplies, unless you need to and have a laser focus on overhead. Don't waste money on big fluff CE(Kois, etc) that has no ROI, and take good CE.
Hold off on expensive Kois CE until practice settled
I would hold off on KOIS, expensive CE until you buy the practice and are well settled into it.
Thinks Kois overblew a warning on CHX irrigation
Kois is the first and only place that I heard that, he seemed pretty worked up about the subject, I think he was overblowing things personally.
Expensive Kois CE, people spend 60K and never implement
Bingo watch your overhead closely. Don't pay for something that you won't act on or use. This included expensive CE like Kois.....people dropping 60+K and never implementing comprehensive care....
Heavy continuums like Kois hard to apply Monday morning
I have not taken Speak, Kois or Pankey. There is something to be learned from any and all of those classes, but for me those heavy duty continuums are hard to apply Monday morning. I like classes than can be easily applied in an everyday bread and butter practice. I'm a CE junkie, I've taken soooo many. But I try to make sure ROI is there.
Disagrees with Kois Center deprogramming protocol
I have had a problem with this for a while but I just want to come out and say it-I really have to disagree with the 1, or even 3 week protocol that I see being advocated an applied out of the Kois Center. I strongly frequently feel that parafunctional envelope is incorrecty diagnosed as functional envelope due to inadequate diagnosis and time spent in that pursuit.
Kois tuition out of reach for a new grad
Before I sign up I need to go out back and pluck a few ten thousand dollar bills from my money tree.... Eventually, maybe I could set my sights on Kois, but for a new grad as you can imagine covering tuition for these courses is an absolute impossibility.
Kois occlusion dogma is incomplete, turns away patients
I read Dawson's book. I'm a graduate of the Kois Center. I know how to equilibrate patients. But the Pankey/Dawson/Kois dogma on occlusion is incomplete. John Kois is the best teacher I've ever met. But I've sat in his lectures and seen doctors present cases with patients who have no visible occlusion problems and severe headaches and John has said, I'm sorry, I don't think we can help this patient. Huh??? I think we can help those patients. And I don't think we have to equilibrate everyone else to help them.
Kois Center is extremely expensive, about 40K total
I think Kois center is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE. They charge you 10K per session, and you need to go about 3~4 times to finish (40K total)
Kois Center CE is too expensive, 10K per course
I think Kois Center CE is too expensive. To master their program, I think I need to take at least 5~10 courses and each of them cost 10K.
Kois refused refund despite timely cancellation
I signed up to take his course about 10-15 years ago. I live about 30 minutes walking distance from the Kois Center. Subsequently I learned that Garg was offering his continuum in Seattle beginning at the same time. I canceled my registration for Kois ahead of the required 60 days notice and signed up for Garg’s continuum. Later I learned that I would not be getting a refund from Kois even though I canceled ahead of the cancellation date. I raised a stink with the course administrator who wouldn’t budge. I asked her for Dr. Kois to give me a call. She said that was not going to happen. It turned out she was right!
The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
Kois treatment planning course would be invaluable
I have been to several and think they are both extremely beneficial. Coming right out of school I think Treatment Planning at the Kois Center would be invaluable.
I love Kois and it transformed my practice
I have taken both (graduating kois in may). I love kois and it has transformed my practice. But if you aren’t an owner or in a practice that is able to implement it I feel it would be better to wait a few years.
Kois curriculum: inspiring cohort, useful for daily practice
One of the best thing about taking a live high quality curriculum is the company you keep when doing it. At Kois, you sit in a group of 32 dentist who are so hungry to take their profession to the next level they forgo working for week, pay for a weeks worth of accommodations and meals, and pay $10,000 in tuition. (And they would pay double)
I think taking his curriculum ASAP would be a terrific thing. You will rub elbows with the most passionate and motivated dentist out there. It’s inspiring. Not to mention that this mentor is going to distill valuable and very useful everyday information that you will use daily for the rest of your career.
Kois treatment planning course was worth every penny
His course has saved me a ton of stomach lining. I learned to stop doing heroic dentistry, and patients were better educated in making choices with a better chance of predictability. I think the class on treatment planning was worth every penny, wish I would have taken it much earlier in my career.
Kois is worth every penny
Kois will cost $10,000 a week for a couple of courses on your way to complete the entire curriculum. It’s done in a logical sequence. It is worth every penny.
Kois Center is horribly expensive but really helps
The Kois Center is horribly expensive but it really helps you practice with the comfortable amount of stress.
